This tutorial uses the mirror or flip effect in PSP and a plugin filter from
namesuppressed
called softener.
It works much better than the softener filter that come with PSP. This filter
is shareware. You can use it indefinately without purchasing but if you find
that you're using it alot you might want to go ahead an purchase it. Its not
very expensive and well worth twice the amount the developer is asking. (shhhhhhhhhhhhhh
don't tell him I said that it might give him ideas.)
If you have never installed a filter before got to the Filter
Install tutorial after downloading the filter.
First thing you need to do is make your graphic Open a Large new image ... about 500pixels by 500 pixel (you're going to need this much room later when you flip everything.
Add your accent graphic then add you text.
While the text is still selected do any 3d effects you would like on it. I used SBP then did a dropshadow using these settings. Vertical = 2 Horizontal =2 Opacity=100 and Blur=8Now Go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visable
Next you need to copy then paste as new layer (Ctrl + L)
Using the mover toolmove both layers to the upper half of the image.
Now the layer named Merged should be the bottom layer. Go to your layer pallet and make "Merged" your active layer. On the menu bar go to Image/Flip
Donot line up your reflection yet that is a step that comes later. Now go to Effects/Geometric Effects/Skew
This will slant the text so that it looks more like a real reflection. Here is where we apply the Softener filter.
Go to Effects/Plugin filters/Namesuppressed/Softener
Open the Gausian Blur Light preset. Then slide the Radius Bar to about 10.
Now Chose the mover tool and move the reflection until it matches up with the bottom of the original.
Now go to your layer palet and change the Merged layer opacity to between 40 and 50%
(this is the layer you flipped and added the softener filter too)
Now go to Layers/Merge/MergeVisable Copy And paste as a new image
(this step gets rid of the extra background that is no longer needed)
File Save As or F12
Chose JPEG file formatClick on Opions and make sure compression is set to less than 10 I hope you liked this tutorial I got the Idea from another tutorial that someone in the group sent in but I thought the reflection was too clear and crisp even if it was muted and to even and strait. So I reinvented the wheel so to speak.
